The Threshold

It is assumed that we all separate concepts, that we’re all split inside—like our civilized world is split into opposites, into areas, into subjects, each filed separately in compartments. But assuming that the common is the baseline, or natural, or true, prevents us from seeing what is real.

Entering the Fifth World

The Hopi spoke of worlds long before “world” meant a planet or an era. When they described the First, Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth World, they weren’t telling a myth. It seems to many people like I’m involving myself with unimportant, non-urgent, trivial little things.

Many of those don’t even have anything to show for my time, energy and attention to them. It seems that I’m “chaotic”, “all over the place”, “don’t try hard enough”, “not doing enough”, that I “don’t take things seriously”.

Cause Exists Only in the Present

When someone is mean, distant, compliant — whatever — they’re revealing their inner state now. Not their childhood. Not their parents. Not the story of their trauma.

Right here, right now, they’re showing whether they’re at peace in their own life, or living from contraction, resentment, or fear.
